Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of RoboDB, the native macOS app for managing MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. Please read them — a couple of points really matter for a tool that touches live data.

Last updated: 7 July 2026

1. Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using RoboDB (“RoboDB,” “the app”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. If you’re using RoboDB on behalf of an organisation, you’re agreeing on its behalf.

2. Your licence to use RoboDB

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use RoboDB on the Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal or business use, in line with these terms and the Apple App Store terms. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or attempt to circumvent the app’s purchase and licensing controls.

3. Purchases, Pro, and AI credits

RoboDB is free to download and use for its core features. Some features and all AI usage are unlocked through in-app purchases handled by the Apple App Store:

All payments, taxes, and refunds are handled by Apple under the terms of the App Store — we don’t process payments ourselves and can’t issue refunds directly. If you owned the earlier RoboDB Classic (sold through Paddle), contact us via the in-app support form with your Paddle receipt and we’ll help you migrate.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use RoboDB only to access database servers and systems that you own or are authorised to access. You are responsible for complying with all laws and with any agreements that apply to those systems. Don’t use RoboDB to gain unauthorised access to data or to do anything unlawful.

⚠️ You are responsible for your data and your backups. RoboDB is a powerful tool that can create, modify, transfer, and permanently delete data and database objects. Operations like dropping tables, running UPDATE/DELETE statements, and transferring databases can be irreversible. Always keep current backups, and test significant changes against a non-production database first. RoboDB is not a backup service.

5. Data safety

You are solely responsible for the data you access and the changes you make with RoboDB. We strongly recommend maintaining independent, tested backups of any database you connect to. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for data loss, corruption, downtime, or any other consequence resulting from your use of the app.

6. AI features

RoboDB’s optional AI assistant generates suggestions — SQL, explanations, tuning and triage advice — using third-party AI models. This output can be incomplete or incorrect. You should always review AI-generated SQL and recommendations before acting on them.

RoboDB never runs AI-generated changes on its own. AI output is presented for your review; you decide whether to execute it. Any statement you choose to run is your responsibility, exactly as if you had typed it yourself.

Use of AI features consumes credits and is subject to fair-use limits to keep the service available for everyone. AI requests are processed by our provider, Anthropic, as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Third-party services

RoboDB relies on services operated by others: Apple (App Store distribution and payments), Anthropic (AI processing), and, for legacy RoboDB Classic purchases only, Paddle. Your use of those services is also governed by their respective terms, and we’re not responsible for their acts or omissions.

8. Intellectual property

RoboDB, its name, logo, and software are owned by us and protected by law. These terms don’t transfer any ownership to you. Third-party open-source components included in RoboDB remain under their own licences, which are listed in the app under Acknowledgements.

9. “As is”; no warranty

RoboDB is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every server configuration.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RoboDB and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business, arising out of or related to your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Termination

You may stop using RoboDB at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end your access to server-side services (such as the AI API) if you breach these terms or misuse the service. Purchases already made through Apple remain subject to Apple’s policies.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above and post the new version here. Continuing to use RoboDB after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here limits any rights you have as a consumer that can’t be waived under the law that applies to you.
